A weak earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale occured at in Ranau, Sabah, at 9.17pm last night, according to the Meteorological Department.
In a statement, the department said tremors were felt in the district.
Meanwhile, another moderate quake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale was detected to have occurred in Mindoro, Philippines, about 184km north-west of San Hose, and 883km north-east of Kudat, Sabah, at 9.50pm.
Both incidents posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia, the statement said.
