A pro-Umno portal has urged newly-minted Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson Hasan Arifin to initiate the process to expel DAP lawmaker Tony Pua.
MyKmu.net
said doubts have been cast on Pua following the leaks of internal PAC information to outsiders, especially the foreign media.
"Many are puzzled why there is a debate on who has the power to sack a PAC member.
"There is no need for such a debate because the new PAC chairperson can initiate the process to remove Pua from the committee - whatever the process may be.
"It doesn't matter if he is sacked by Parliament, speaker or Hasan himself. What is important is that Pua's face is no longer seen in PAC."
The portal said this was the time for Hasan to "bare his fangs" and not waste time engaging in question and answer sessions with the likes of DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.
It accused Lim of deliberately wanting to drag the matter in order to accuse the government of delaying the PAC investigations into 1MDB.
MyKmu.net, which is a staunch defender of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, also criticised Hasan for dancing to Lim’s tune.
"What is important is that the PAC proceedings concerning 1MDB has to be resolved immediately so that the people no longer have a reason to hate the government.
"What more when the initial report of the National Audit Department showed no wrongdoings committed."
Yesterday, Hasan said the next PAC meeting would hold a private discussion on the ethics of its members and the issues raised about Pua.
However, he clarified that PAC cannot remove Pua and there is no such agenda.
The DAP lawmaker, on the other hand, claimed that BN wanted him out of the committee due to his vocal criticism of 1MDB.
