Schools in all states but three will open tomorrow, after close to a week of closure due to the haze.
Some 1,600 schools in Perlis, Penang and Perak, will remain shut as the Air Pollution Index (API) shows the air there is still "unhealthy" and "very unhealthy".
This involves 728,739 students, the Education Ministry said in a statement.
Kedah also recorded unhealthy levels, but Friday is already an off-day for schools in the state.
The weekend falls on Friday and Saturday in the northern state.
Schools in Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Bentong (Pahang) and the districts of Kuching, Sri Aman and Samarahan will open tomorrow.
This despite the Selangor government ordering all outdoor activities cancelled.
Schools in some states were closed for four consecutive days due to the haze this week.
