If Mahathir is bad, then Najib is super-bad

YOURSAY | ‘Mahathir was never accused for being involved in a murder conspiracy.’

Sultans peeved with Dr M, says Nazri

BTN: We all know what former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad did but compared to PM Najib Razak, he appears a better leader.

If you say Mahathir doesn't have principles and a hypocrite, then Najib is far worse than him.

The country in Mahathir’s times was not in a shamble or ruled by ruffians as what we see now. Today, people can go around insulting another race and get away with it.

Anonymous #19098644: Mahathir was never accused for being involved in a murder conspiracy. Neither was he accused of wholesale looting of the nation.

Never in the history of the nation have we ever had a minister or PM who has received donations of RM2.6 billion in his personal account.

Anonymous 560221439180274: Mahathir chooses to have selective memory, even to the point of saying, "I left the government a long time ago, I have no access to government documents."

I don't blame him totally, for his past enemies including people like Lim Kit Siang and Anwar Ibrahim are now prepared to have teh tarik with him.

What matters most is political mileage. If repeated lies as well as whipping up racial or religious hatred can win the votes, why not?

Anonymous #66797900: Indeed, what Tourism Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz said is true.

Dr M removed the rulers’ immunity and went round the country insulting and disgracing them. No one can deny that.

He was the one who started calling non-Malays ‘pendatang’ and drastically reduced their role in the civil service.

All department heads were Malays, including those in Sabah and Sarawak. East Malaysian bumiputeras were made subservient to Malays.

Overnight he made the country an Islamic state and empowered religious fanatics and head of religious departments to do as they please. Syariah courts and judges were placed at the same level as civil courts.

There is no end to his racial, religious manipulating until non-Malays in Sabah were reduced to a minority by flooding the state with Philippine and Indonesian Muslims who were given citizenship.

The less said about this double-headed snake, the better.

Aktan: Some rakyat may still harbour anger at the past sins of Mahathir but for a person in power for over 20 years, it would have been quite impossible for anyone not to make mistakes.

The rakyat have to be thankful that we still have a person powerful enough to tell off the current PM, who is the mother of all evils and corruption.

Proarte: Whilst it is true that Mahathir is an unprincipled hypocrite who is responsible for the destruction of civil governance in Malaysia, his support for the royals over their stand on 1MDB cannot be faulted.

His sincerity may be suspect, but the legitimacy of his protest against 1MDB cannot be questioned.

T C Chan: I have no issue with the rulers’ immunity being removed. It concerns their criminal and civil liability, but not for their acts as rulers.

What Mahathir did was good for the country and the rulers themselves. Accountability should prevail. Rulers should not be immune absolutely.

Tok Karut: With opposition in disarray and Umno Baru being helped by ‘Arab money’, Mahathir despite his notorious past in whittling down the basic structure of our constitution, is still the most consistent critic of the scoundrels and their posse.

All, including rulers, are not unhappy on this. On the wall, and Nazri is grasping at straws.

Three police papers on Dr M over criminal defamation

Dr Suresh Kumar: This is not Kramer vs Kramer but Karma vs Karma. May Dr M live a long and healthy life to see what he has brought upon this once lovely, prosperous country of ours crumbling before his very eyes.

No ‘pendatang’ can help any more, let these great ‘ketuanan’ Umno Malays go for one another's throat. All ‘pendatang’ should just shut up and watch the melodrama of the century.

LYY: There is little to choose between two unscrupulous politicians - one greedy for money, the other for power.

Let them duke it out and may the last man standing live to see the whole Umno structure crumble to be replaced by a democratic system worthy of the long-suffering Malaysians.

888: I will clap when old fox gets his ‘wish’ to rest in Kajang Rest House. He put too many there during his 22 years.
