Malaysian police to meet Justo in Thailand next week

A team of police officers from Bukit Aman is to leave for Thailand next week to record the testimony of Swiss national Xavier Andre Justo, who has been convicted of attempted extortion, over the probe into 1MDB.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said today the decision to send the team was made after Thai police gave the approval for Malaysian police to meet the former executive of PetroSaudi International Ltd.

“I anticipate that we will be able to meet him (Justo) next week for an interview and to secure relevant documents,” he told reporters after attending the closing of a policing programme in Kuala Lumpur.

He said the Malaysian police had not been given a specific date yet on the meeting with Justo because the latter had to undergo case management.

Khalid declined to elaborate on the team of officers to be sent to Thailand.

Justo, 49, is serving a three-year jail sentence after having been found guilty by a Thai court on Aug 17 of attempting to extort his employer, PetroSaudi.

His case drew interest in Malaysia due to cooperation between PetroSaudi and 1MDB.
