PM visits Agong at IJN
Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak visited Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur today.
Najib arrived at the main lobby of Block A of IJN at 6.30pm after tabling the 2016 Budget in Parliament.
The prime minister, who was accompanied by his wife Rosmah Mansor, was welcomed by Istana Negara and IJN officials.
His Majesty underwent a scheduled medical check-up at IJN yesterday.
Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Awang Kechik Abdul Rahman, in a statement here today, said Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, 88, arrived at IJN at 10.30pm last night in his official vehicle to undergo the scheduled medical check-up.
"Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong is resting and is expected to resume duties soon," he said in the statement.
IJN chief executive officer and senior consultant cardiac surgeon Dr Azhari Yakub said Tuanku Abdul Halim's condition was fine and there was no reason for the public to raise any concerns over the matter.
"He is on a scheduled medical check-up and observation. He will be discharged soon," he said, adding that the Prime Minister spoke to His Majesty.
Najib met His Majesty for 45 minutes before leaving the hospital.
