The Kelantan Federal Development Department (JPP) will hold information programmes on development projects provided by the federal government for the state under the 2016 Budget and 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP).

Kelantan Federal Action Council chairperson Mustapa Mohamed said the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Minister's Department will list out all the development projects, which will be distributed to all relevant parties in the state through the information programme.

"Although only three projects were mentioned in the 2016 Budget, which are the expansion of the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Pengkalan Chepa and the construction of two Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) colleges, in Ketereh (Kota Baharu) and Tanah Merah, this does not mean that only these three projects will be implemented in Kelantan.

"We will explain to the people that there are many more projects which are being implemented and will be implemented. Kelantan will continue to be looked after by the federal government," he told reporters after attending a meeting with Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) Student's Representative Council in Kota Baru today.

Mustapa, who is also minister of international trade and industry, as well as the mentor minister for UMK, was commenting on the 2016 Budget which was tabled by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Meanwhile, in Tumpat, Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob said the expansion of the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport and the construction of the two MRSM colleges would help generate economic growth in the state.

He said the expansion of the airport would allow it to accommodate the increasing number of passengers and flights, and provide comfort to the public.
