After PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man claimed that the Pakatan Rakyat coalition still exists , DAP publicity chief Tony Pua chided that ‘someone’ should try calling for a Pakatan Rakyat presidential council meeting.

“Pakatan Rakyat doesn't exist anymore. If Pakatan Rakyat exists, perhaps someone can call for a presidential council meeting of Pakatan Rakyat and see who attends.

“Perhaps only PAS attends, so if that’s the case, then it doesn’t exist,” he told reporters today.

He said that although PKR had stated that it would continue cooperating with PAS, the cooperation had nothing to do with Pakatan Rakyat.

The Islamist party controls significant leverage in the PKR-led Selangor state assembly and executive council.

Pua was responding to Tuan Ibrahim’s ( photo ) statement claiming that Pakatan Rakyat remains intact despite Pakatan Harapan’s formation as its replacement.

The new coalition is comprised of PKR, DAP and the PAS splinter party Parti Amanah Negara.

The Petaling Jaya Utara MP added that PKR is free to talk to any other political party that it wishes.

To a question whether PAS can join Pakatan Harapan, Pua replied, “Pakatan Harapan will have its common policy platform as well as our coalition agreement that is being discussed and prepared.

“Any party that subscribes to our common policy platform, can work within a coalition framework, and is agreeable to the coalition agreement, can join Pakatan Harapan.”
