Parliament's Committee of Selection has appointed five MPs to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Four of them are BN lawmakers who will be replacing former PAC members who are now in the executive, while PAS is replacing one of its members who jumped parties.

The new BN committee members are Putatan MP Marcus Mojigoh, Jasin MP Ahmad Hamzah, Langkawi MP Nawawi Ahmad and Alor Gajah MP Koh Nai Kwong.

They are replacing Madius Tangau, Mas Ermieyati Shamsudin, Reezal Merican Naina Merican, and Chua Tee Yong respectively, after the four were elevated to the government in Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's changes to the cabinet.

PAS meanwhile has put Kota Bharu MP Takiyuddin Hassan ( photo ) in the PAC, to replace Tumpat MP Kamaruddin Jaffar who jumped from PAS to PKR last month.

The appointments were made during the Committee of Selection's meeting chaired by Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia last Thursday.

Last Monday, Rompin MP Hasan Arifin was appointed as the PAC's new chief, replacing Nur Jazlan Mohamed who is now deputy home minister.

The PAC is currently under intense public scrutiny, as it probes the debt-ridden 1MDB.
