Banting registers unhealthy air as of 1pm
The air quality in Banting, Selangor registered an unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) of 103 as of 1pm compared to a moderate API reading of 72 this morning.
According to the Department of Environment’s portal, Larkin Lama and Pasir Gudang in Johor, which had an unhealthy API reading this morning, registered a moderate API reading of 100 and 96 respectively as of 1pm.
Another 27 areas registered a moderate API reading, including Port Klang (96); Petaling Jaya (85); Bukit Rambai, Port Dickson, Putrajaya and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (82 each); Malacca City (78); Kota Tinggi (75); Nilai and Seremban (74 each) and Muar (71).
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy; and 300 and above, hazardous.

Meanwhile, hazy conditions and reduced visibility are expected in Singapore today, with the air quality to hover in the mid to high sections of the unhealthy range, according to the National Environment Agency (NEA).
NEA said thundery showers are forecast for Singapore in the afternoon, but this may only bring temporary respite.
The prevailing winds are forecast to blow from the east or south-east.
As at 8am today, the 24-hour pollutant standard index (PSI) reading was 136-166 in the unhealthy range, and the one-hour particulate matter (PM)2.5 was 67-108µg/m3.
