Senior cop’s son claims trial to ‘false statement’ charge

A son of a senior police officer pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today to a charge of giving false statement about the sale of 50 luxury cars, last year.

Mohamad Azhan Hamza, 31, a businessman, was charged with giving a false statement about the sale of the cars through car dealers TTDI Cars, Melinium Auto and Sentimas Sdn Bhd to investigating officer, Mohamad Farid Jabar, from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya, between 1.45pm and 6.30pm, on July 16, last year.

Judge Norsharidah Awang allowed Mohamad Azhan bail of RM20,000 with one surety and fixed Nov 30 for re-mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Atiqah Liyana Shahrir appeared for the prosecution while lawyer Mohd Shahrullah Khan Nawab Zadah Khan represented the accused.
