BN is confident that it can maintain power for the next two years and then win the 14th general election on the back of a good budget and solid future planning.

BN strategic communications director Abdul Rahman Dahlan said today the government had a lot of good things going for it.

"We are confident that we can retain the federal government. We have about two years.

"I think the budget is there, and the 11th Malaysia Plan is kicking in in 2016. We have a lot of good things to talk about the country to the people," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

BN, under Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's leadership, is currently under siege over the premier's various scandals.

These include 1MDB's debt problems and allegations of misappropriation of public funds linked to Najib's personal coffers. Najib has denied these allegations.

The Budget 2016, which was tabled last Friday, has promised to give the middle-income group more tax breaks while providing more support to lower income earners.

The five-year 11th Malaysia Plan, meanwhile, plans to achieve 5-6 percent GDP growth between 2016 and 2020, lower national debt to below 45 percent and raise the average household income to above RM10,000 per month, among others.
