Tell me how I abused power, Azalina asks Nie Ching
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Azalina Othman has fired back at DAP's Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching after the latter accused her of abuse of power.
Azalina has demanded that Teo explain how that is the case.
Teo had said the minister had abused her power by her refusal to answer her oral question in Parliament on whether Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak received RM42 million into his personal bank accounts from state-owned SRC International.
Azalina called the abuse charge 'unwarranted' stating that her response to Teo was that she could not comment on the matter due to ongoing investigations by the MACC and her stand was in accordance with the rules.
"As a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, I have given a clear and concise answer to her question based on the existing regulations for cases of ongoing investigations.
"It is beyond my responsibility if she refuses to understand the answer provided by the government.
"Therefore, I humbly seek YB Kulai to enlighten me precisely on how when and where did I abuse my powers as claimed by her in a press statement," said Azalina.
Azalina also accused Teo of trying to cast aspersions on the government.
"YB Kulai has demonstrated a lack of political maturity by making shallow and unfounded accusations which may mislead the people and create a negative perception towards the government," she said.
