DAP lawmaker Tony Pua should agreed to Arul Kanda Kandasamy's condition that he must resign as a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) before hosting a live talk show with the 1MDB president, Umno minister Nazri Abdul Aziz says.

"Pua must resign because he is a member of PAC, which is investigating (1MDB)," Nazri, who is tourism and culture minister, told reporters in the Parliament lobby.

"It is conflict of interest if he does not. Simple as that. This is common sense," he said.

Pua (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara) must be a neutral person before he can host any live talk show to interview Arul Kanda.

Pua wanted to interview Arul Kanda in a live talk show after dismissing the 1MDB president's earlier interview with Bernama TV as a public relations exercise.

Arul accepted Pua's challenge this morning but asked that the DAP lawmaker first resign as a PAC member.

In response, Pua told Arul to be ‘a man’ and accept his challenge unconditionally.

'Let's be practical'

On another matter, Nazri ( photo ), who last night said 'no' to any form of BN-PAS cooperation, said he agreed though that both parties could work together on national issues, but not during a general election.

He said this in response to PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan's explanation that BN-PAS coorperation would only be on national and not political issues.

Nazri said yesterday that an Umno-PAS coalition would not work because they would fight over seats in the general election.

"There is no need to form a unity government. We will contest in the same seats in a general election. So let's be practical," Nazri said. "Just like a football match, the captains from both teams will shake hands before the game."

On this premise, Nazri, who is also an Umno supreme council member, said he has no problem working together with PAS.
