Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia said he has no personal score to settle with DAP Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang who has been suspended from Parliament for six months.

Instead, Pandikar said Lim, who was banned on the grounds that his words were in contempt of the speaker, should be responsible for his unparliamentary words.

"I am not the one who punished him but it's the Parliament."

“There’s nothing personal in politics, nothing personal. The question is, has he forgiven me?" he told reporters after attending an event in Kuala Lumpur.

Pandikar was responding whether he has forgiven the DAP supremo for saying the speaker has sabotaged the 1MDB investigation by suspending the operation of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Last Monday, the motion to suspend Lim was chaotically passed with a majority of 30 votes in a bloc vote - 107 BN lawmakers for and 77 opposition MPs against.

Following this, Lim is barred from attending Parliament until April next year.

Reform details too technical

Meanwhile, Pandikar said parliamentary reforms, which he has long aspired to, would start to take place at next year's first parliamentary sitting.

"I promised MPs and the public that in March and April next year we would have new procedures."

However, he refused to elaborate. "That will be very technical, you wouldn't understand," he told reporters.

In May, Pandikar revealed he had handed over his resignation letter to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as he was disillusioned by the lack of political will for parliamentary reforms.

Pandikar had said then that among the reform measures he hoped to introduce were abolishing the parliamentary affairs minister's position, establishing a parliamentary bill committee and facilitating a ministers' question-and-answer session.
