Anti-graft panel gives thumbs up to S’wak CM

The Consultation and Corruption Prevention Panel is satisfied with the commitment shown by the Sarawak state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Adenan Satem to implement various measures to ensure corruption-related issues are dealt with properly.

Its chairperson Johan Jaafar said many of the statements and action by Adenan met the panel's expectations.

Citing an example, he said due to the chief minister's seriousness to address the issue of corruption related to illegal logging, he learned that a lot of sawmills had been closed after failing to get wood supply from legal sources.

"We can feel that the efforts undertaken by the state government would bear good results in the future," he told reporters after paying a courtesy call on Adenan at the chief minister's office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia in Kuching, today.

Accompanying him were Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission deputy chief commissioner (prevention) Mustafar Ali and Sarawak MACC director Badrul Shah Norman.
