Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Azalina Othman has denied that Putrajaya is trying to dodge the issue of RM2.6 billion deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts.

She was responding to DAP's Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang who accused the government of being in contempt of Parliament by refusing to answer MPs' questions on the subject until a later date.

"The government is not trying to avoid in giving an answer but has decided to answer in one go to all verbal and written questions on the same matter.

"The government will answer in one go in this parliament session itself.

"The government's decision does not contravene any parliamentary rules," she said in a statement.

Lim in a statement today said Azalina had committed the "ultimate contempt" of Parliament by choosing when to answer questions about the RM2.6 billion issue.

He had complained that if this was allowed, the government can even choose to answer the questions on the last days of the Parliament sitting, making it impossible for MPs to respond if they are unsatisfied with the answer.
