PAS is unfazed by the prospect of DAP contesting in several of its state seats in Selangor in the next general election.

However, Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad said such a move would only split the votes in those constituencies.

“We know their (DAP’s) strategy, but we are confident that we will be able to defend our seats,” he told journalists at the state assembly lobby this afternoon.

Earlier today, Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua said DAP might contest in eight PAS seats in Selangor.

The seats are Taman Templer, Lembah Jaya, Paya Jeras, Sri Serdang, Meru, Cempaka, Dusun Tua and Tanjung Sepat.

Pua said DAP believes it has a strong influence in these seats and considers them winnable in the event of three-cornered fights.

However, he added that the matter would be discussed between the Pakatan Harapan partners for a final decision.

Meanwhile, Iskandar disagreed with Pua’s prediction.

The Cempaka assemblyperson, whose seat is one of those in DAP’s crosshairs, believes that Umno and BN would be the ultimate winners.

“If there is a split in votes, Umno and BN will benefit and the opposition will be at the losing end,” he cautioned.
