Selangor PAS will not entertain calls for the party’s assemblypersons to be sacked from state government to resolve the imbroglio between the PKR, DAP and PAS over the Selangor government.

Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad said today the party would focus its efforts on delivering services to the people instead.

“As far as I’m concerned, PAS is still in government and our job is to carry out our responsibilities as part of the government. There is much work to be done after the budget is approved.

“Our focus should be for the government to move forward and serve the people and provide them with services.

“Such political issues need to be set aside because we have just started the state assembly sitting and our focus now is on the budget,” he told reporters at the state assembly’s annex building.

He was responding to reporters’ questions about a Selangor DAP delegate’s call that Selangor sacks all PAS representatives in the state administration to break the political administration deadlock in the state.

To another question whether the issue will be discussed at the PAS central leadership level, Iskandar said:

“We will not discuss… we will continue with our work.

“My opinion is that in our situation we should focus on solving the peoples’ problems and not playing politics because the people are sometimes tired of the politicking and want something different. That’s important.”

Ties cut, new entities formed

The conflict between DAP and PAS has been dragging on for months following PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s insistence to push ahead with the Islamist party’s hudud agenda.

This caused DAP to cut ties with Hadi, but not with PAS.

PAS subsequently cut ties with DAP during its muktamar (general assembly) last June, leading to Pakatan Rakyat's disintegration.

This also caused a group of dissatisfied PAS leaders to leave the party and form the splinter party Parti Amanah Negara which subsequently joined the Pakatan Harapan coalition, with PKR and DAP at the national level.
