PKR still hopeful PAS will vote down Budget
PKR deputy president Azmin Ali said he is still hopeful that PAS will vote down the 2016 Budget to give Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak the boot.
"PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and their chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan said that they will support the move by PKR for a vote of no-confidence against the prime minister and all other options available.
PKR deputy president Azmin Ali said he is still hopeful that PAS will vote down the 2016 Budget to give Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak the boot.
"PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and their chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan said that they will support the move by PKR for a vote of no-confidence against the prime minister and all other options available.
"So I'm holding on to that," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
He dismissed PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's remarks that the party will not vote against the Budget as 'Hadi's opinion'.
When confronted with the fact that PAS has already said they will abstain from voting, the Selangor menteri besar remained firm on his stand.
"I don't know (about PAS abstaining), that's a new decision. The decision relayed by the PAS deputy president and chief whip to PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is clear, so we hold on to that," he said.
Hadi was reported as saying that PAS will not vote down the Budget because the party's principle iwasto support what was good for the people.
Pasir Mas MP Nik Abduh Nik Aziz clarified today that all PAS lawmakers will abstain from the Budget vote.
However, Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar said he has yet to receive any official instruction to abstain from voting.
