Better to be inconsistent than be consistently corrupt

YOURSAY | ‘No wonder Umno is mired deep in the cesspool of its own creation.’

Prove opposition shortcomings by their spats, Umno told

Ipohcrite: Cheras Umno division chief Syed Ali Alhabshee is a leader who defies logic but inspires laughter and scorn.

Instead of improving themselves through good governance, integrity and service, he is exhorting Umno to attack the opposition in order to elevate themselves in the eyes of the rakyat.

No wonder Umno is mired deep in the cesspool of its own creation, like the 1MDB debacle, and continues to blame the opposition for playing it up when the rakyat are demanding answers to the RM2.6 billion in the PM's bank account, and no answers are forthcoming.

The Analyser: My guess is that Umno needs to exploit the opposition spats because they are incapable of exploiting the opposition's lack of policies, not having any themselves.

Nor are they able to compare the concepts of long-term planning and vision, because they are not on the Umno agenda neither.

Oh Ya?: Indeed, the opposition has scored an own goal and deserves the snub. The mess that they have created is enough to give the ruling elite a walk in the park, despite it is having a fair share of mess and bickering.

GE14Now!: It is true that the opposition has problems of its own. That is what you get when you have a party like PAS in your corner (well, sort of anyway).

But whatever problems, deficiencies and shortcomings that the opposition has, it does not have the level of grand corruption that Umno is afflicted. It also does not have thugs, thieves and samseng among its ranks.

Come to think of it, the opposition does not have politicians like Syed Ali either.

YF: What spats? PAS has been bought over; that's why the righteous folks left PAS and formed Pakatan Harapan.

Dare you implement hudud, Syed Ali? PAS chief Hadi Awang might want to make you his victim.

Ib: Everyone knows some of the donations being used to break up the opposition. And yes, there are greedy individuals but now they are headed in BN’s direction.

The Mask: Syed Ali, how many times have I told you to declare your assets before you can open your mouth, Now, go and sit in the corner.

Armageddon: It is okay to be inconsistent, rather than be consistently corrupt.

Group of Indian youths wants alcohol-free Deepavali

Disgusted: The problem with Indians is not drinking alcohol. It is handling alcohol. Instead of enjoying a pint or two and stopping, they let alcohol control them.

If the father is an alcoholic, the children tend to follow. It’s the case of monkey see monkey do. If the father smokes he can't tell his son not to smoke and the same goes to drinking and any other bad habit.

In this respect Gabungan Unity is right. I support them in their endeavours. But you should also set a good example and not have alcohol in MIC functions and parties.

P Dev Anand Pillai: The day the government of the day stops issuing licences to those who intend to open wine shops, will be the day we can see this become a reality. Wine shops can even be seen in housing estates.

Indian youths using playgrounds in neighbourhoods as their drinking joints is very evident. They now even have small sessions in their cars.

The Analyser: Now that is what I call an excellent idea. Well done, Gabungan Unity.

This is a fine example of young Malaysians doing something that will benefit other people. And what makes this move even better is that they are doing it through education.

Senyum Kambeng: I say it's about time something serious is done about alcoholism in the Indian community.

Political leaders are fully aware of the community's problems where alcohol is concerned, yet no one wants to take the bull by the horns.

Comments posted here demonstrate how others take a dim view of the community and belittle the people who have become dependent on alcohol. It’s so sad.

Higher fare for KTM Komuter passengers

Drngsc: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM), you can try whatever to justify the increase fares.

But what do households do when they cannot make ends meet? How can they try and justify to their families? Shall we say let’s go steal? Or let’s go rob? Or let’s not go to school, or let’s not eat?

What kind of responsible government will do this to their citizens? We are underpaid and overtaxed.

Anonymous_1419570792: The increase for KL Sentral to Bandar Tasik Selatan is more than 100 percent. What is this?

Snake-in-the-Grass: You make the Singaporeans, the Americans, the Europeans, even the Thais laugh - what a dysfunctional place called Malaysia.

And why did you not remove the root of the problems - you?
