The family of the murdered deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais has yet to claim his remains from the morgue, said his brother Richard Morais.

"I will let you know," was his reply to Malaysiakini when asked when they will collect the body.

The family's lawyer Americk Sidhu said a second post-mortem has not been performed yet on Morais' body.

The family is seeking a second opinion and have asked for a second post- mortem to be done before claiming the remains.

Morais, who had handled many high-profile cases, was reported missing on Sept 4 and was last seen leaving his apartment at Menara Duta in Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya in a Proton Perdana.

Police ruled it as an abduction following CCTV footage of him being kidnapped from his car by a group of men in broad daylight.

His remains were found in a cemented drum in Subang Jaya, near Kuala Lumpur, on Sept 16.

Reportedly, Morais' murder was related to a RM700,000 corruption case which he had handled as a DPP.

Six have been charged with his murder, while two others were charged with abetment.

While the first post-mortem concluded in late September, the family has been reluctant to claim his remains.

Police have said that this is because the family wanted to know the cause of his death and was waiting to get confirmation from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital's forensics department.

Until now, the cause of death has yet to be established.
