MIC chief: Six more Tamil schools to be built nationwide

Six Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) will be built in stages nationwide.

They are SJKT Paya Besar, Kedah; SJKT Taman Keladi, Sungai Petani; SJKT Heawood, Sungai Siput (U), Perak; SJKT Taman Sentosa, Klang; SJKT Bandar Mahkota, Hulu Langat; and, SJKT Taman PJS1, Petaling Jaya.

According to MIC president Dr S Subramaniam, the construction of these schools involves a special provision announced by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, which will be allocated this year.

"The six new schools bring the total number of SJKTs nationwide to 530. This is to meet the aspirations of the Indian community to continue to progress and develop together with other Malaysians," he said.

Subramaniam, who is also health minister said this in a press conference at the handing over of the acceptance letter for SJKT Taman Sentosa, Klang today.
