Is Hasan trying to outdo Pandikar in gagging Pua?

YOURSAY | ‘The acceptance of the debate was a bluff. It was never meant to happen.’

No more 1MDB statements for Pua, says PAC chief

Kim Quek: As if having one dictator (House speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia) in Parliament is not enough, we now have another dictator in Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) new chair Hasan Arifin, who is even fiercer than the first one.

Dictator Pandikar decreed that Tony Pua must not have a debate with Arul Kanda on 1MDB, now dictator Hasan goes a step further, Pua must not even speak publicly about 1MDB, in addition to not debating Arul.

Is Hasan trying to outdo Pandikar?

What do these two men take Parliament for - a schoolyard teaming with kids whom they can order around, yelling out what these kids can and cannot do?

Can speaker Pandikar tell us what parliamentary standing order Pua would breach by debating Arul? If he can’t, he should just get lost, or better still, quit as speaker as he has threatened to do if he can’t get his way over the gagging of Pua.

As for Hasan, he should just follow his master Pandikar to get lost or quit as chairman of PAC, as he claimed to have derived his authority from the former to order Pua around.

CQ Muar: According to PAC chief Hasan, “based on the speaker's ruling, Pua can't speak about 1MDB (publicly)".

If that be the case, a crucial issue such as 1MDB involving mega billions should be left uncovered and not investigated?

Leaders must never be questioned over misappropriations and theft should be allowed to siphon the nation's coffer till it's empty?

And especially when it involved an 'exemplary' and 'dynamic' prime minister such as PM Najib Abdul Razak?

What preposterous joke this country can come up with. This country is ruled and dominated by law of the jungle with apes as administrators.

Commentable: Show us the precedent or authority that Pua can no longer speak publicly about 1MDB.

A MP represents the people and it is the expectation of the people that their MP should work for them, without fear or favour. Najib and his cohorts have been trying every which way to gag Pua or better still, get him out of PAC.

Unlike Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) officers, they can't transfer Pua out just like that.

The rakyat must voice out strongly against this kind of arbitrary action to stifle or stall any parliamentary investigation into the 1MDB scandal.

It looks pretty much the plan to put up a sham investigation so that they can declare there is nothing wrong with 1MDB.

Hope: So, Arul made a big mistake by accepting Pua’s challenge. Now, many are trying to make sure the debate will not take place.

Actually, there is no need debate, just answer the 10 questions asked by Pua.

Shindig: Such an interesting turn in the evolution of your average Umno MP and hanger-ons in the 21st century.

Apart from the pack leader who reigns supreme in his self-ordained terror regime, the minions are of two varieties - the ‘mengelak’ variety and the ‘menyalak’ specialists.

The ‘berfikir’ and ‘berprinsip’ ones have fled to the hills (or possibly Sydney or London) in fear that such rot was contagious through contact.

NNFC: Why is the government trying to silence Pua. Has he stolen any money? Has he cheated the government?

The fact that this is happening shows that the authorities are guilty even before trial. Nobody will ever believe the government anymore.

Salleh Keruak: 1MDB debate on RTM is off

Sali Tambap: And none is surprised. The acceptance of the debate was a bluff. It was never meant to take off from the beginning. It was just a false show of confidence when Arul agreed, knowing very well it would never be condoned by his boss.

1MDB is a Pandora’s box and the gods are trying their best to keep the lid closed. Thus they make all kinds of condition to prevent the debate to take place until eventually there would be no way that it could go ahead or be telecast live.

It is an age-old deception, subterfuge, pretence and posturing under a facade of bravado by cowardly people who have something to hide.

Speaking Sense: Communications minister Salleh Said Keruak, if you want to put on a show, at least you should try to do it with some class, but this performance looks more fake than even the village ‘wayang’ (show).

Now we wait for the equally ridiculous chorus of Umno-BN ministers to do their imitation of the three stooges as they begin their spin on the cancellation.

Justine Gow: The Bugis warrior gang does not want the debate at all in the first place. They play along with it - agreeing first and then using their gang members to put one obstacle after another to make sure that the debate does not take place.

It is just a waste of time even just to challenge them to a debate. Debate or no debate, it is already clear to everyone that someone has something to hide.

One only needs to remind oneself of how someone did not turn up at the Nothing2Hide forum and the anti-corruption forum to know that the debate is not going to happen. Pua should have known better.

Victor Johan: Salleh, the rakyat know that the whole drama of yours is to save Najib from further shame, and of course well-orchestrated with the help of the Dewan Rakyat speaker, now known also as Umno’s ‘loud speaker’ in Parliament.
