All the flood evacuees in Baling have returned to their homes as the floodwaters have receded, according to the Baling Welfare Department.

Its officer, Syamsul Izrin Isahak, said the six relief centres were closed at 5pm after the evacuees left.

“However, the department is prepared to any eventuality of a second wave of floods,” he told Bernama .

A total of 680 villagers were evacuated over the past two days after their villages - Banggol Derom, Gua Reban, Charuk Syikin, Bukit Terabak, Jenalik, Merbau and Batu 42 - were flooded following heavy rain.

They returned to their homes in batches.
