YOURSAY | ‘It is obvious Arul is not sincere in having a debate with either Pua or Rafizi’
Arul: It's Pua who ran and hid behind the speaker
Vijay47:
1MDB boss Arul Kanda has often been described as brilliant and a great orator, but going by his recent statements, I do not notice anything admirable about him except that his intelligence and logic qualify him to assume a leading position in Umno.
His debate with Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua may have initially been seen as a good idea but thinking further, Umno realised that it was fraught with countless pitfalls which would only embarrass the Great Leader even more.
So Plan B has come into operation, getting the media and Arul himself to attack Pua and damage his credibility - that he is a coward to face the truth that Arul represents, that he is too obsessed with the perks that come with being a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member and would resort to any measure to remain in that body.
How cute, Arul, that you can adhere to Parliament speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia's orders but when Pua does it, it is cowardice.
One thing is clear - PM Najib Razak cannot be part of this complicated plot weaved by Umno. He simply does not have the brains for it. Or anything else.
Anonymous_1393648884: Look, Arul, your logic is perverse: your debt-laden 1MDB has been keeping silent in the face of overwhelming evidence of wrongdoing and you are supposed to clear things up, and now you attack your opponent for being a coward while you refuse to clear the air anymore when he (Pua) has been unfairly muzzled by those in authority who are clearly covering up 1MDB’s shenanigans.
All we want to hear is you clearing up many unanswered questions in the sordid affair. As it stands, you and everyone associated with 1MDB apparently have plenty to hide.
Sabahan: Arul, we are not born yesterday. You are dishonest and a coward.
At first, you tried to have Pua resign as a condition for the debate. Then after conniving with the Parliament speaker and knowing fully well that Pua will not be allowed to debate, you then said that you will join the debate with no conditions.
You think the rakyat cannot see through you?
Odin Tajué: Arul, just cut all the bulls**t. It is clear to us that you do not have the bollocks to square off with Pua, Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli or any other parties.
You have the 10 questions . All you need to do is to provide the answers in the form of a press statement.
But we all know you cannot do that because you are completely unable to provide convincing answers.
Wg321: Arul is getting more and more personal in his attacks against Pua. From his behaviour, it is obvious Arul is not sincere in having a debate with either Pua or Rafizi.
The rakyat are not interested in knowing who is better in the art of debating. The rakyat just want to know the truth behind the 1MDB scandal.
Obviously, Arul is appointed CEO to cover up the scandalous wrongdoings of 1MDB. If a debate ever takes place, I can predict the answers Arul will give in respond to the ‘10 questions’ proposed by Pua, such as “this question is under the Official Secrets Act, Banking and Financial Institutions Act; or that question is part of company secrets; or I cannot remember, etc”.
If Arul does not want to tell the truth, the rakyat will believe in “rumours”. This will do more harm to Najib.
The trust deficit or credibility gap is getting wider and wider until nobody will believe what Najib says even if he tells the truth. Arul, the rakyat is not your enemy.
Quigonbond: Arul's reasoning is no different from an influential father of a suspected criminal who bullies the police not to investigate the suspect.
Who would believe that he has the balls to debate Pua if he didn't know already some machinations going on involving the speaker's objection?
If he has real balls, he will debate with Rafizi.
Thana55: Arul, you are now behaving like a politician. Just answer the 10 questions. It’s not so difficult.
You got time to explain to Umno but not to the rakyat. Blatant crimes have been committed and the thieves are 'hiding'.
Negarawan: Perhaps Arul needs to be reminded that it is his company that is being investigated by the federal authorities in six foreign countries, not Pua.
So, he should not be arrogant and conceited. In a well-governed country, he would have already been put behind bars for providing false information and impeding investigations and audits.
I am sure he will be given a chance to "debate" his innocence in a court of law, sooner or later.
Spinnot: "However, Arul Kanda said the planned debate was never with Rafizi."
Okay, now let's plan another debate between you and Rafizi. Don't chicken out this time.
