Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) is ready to take over the Kelantan government's administration from PAS in the coming 14th general election, its president, Mohamad Sabu, said.

This, he said, was necessary to "save" the Islamic government formed by the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

However, Mohamad, popularly known as Mat Sabu, said it would depend on the people's support for Amanah.

"If the support is good, we will discuss (to contest in Kelantan)," he told reporters after a ceramah in Kampung Padang Embun in Pasir Mas last night.

For the time being, he said, Amanah would focus on increasing its membership nationwide and the party had not discussed with its allies, DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat, on contesting in the next general election.

"We have not discussed on the 14th general election, except for the Sarawak state election. We will try to get some seats to contest there," he added.
