The DAP has refused to be dragged into the internal problems plaguing PAS, and has declined to comment about the recent claims that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has conspired with Umno to form the Selangor government.

Secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said that PAS has internal 'family problems, so let them deal with it first'.

“We will comment when the matter is clearer,” he said when asked to comment about the issue which was revealed by former PAS vice-president Husam Musa in a ceramah in Kelantan recently.

“The DAP has not been criticising PAS over the issue because we do not want to be dragged into their internal problems,” added the Penang chief minister.

“It was a PAS member who raised the issues and have been criticising the PAS-led government over the state’s logging problems,” he said.

“We are not involved. I would have commented if it was said that the DAP was involved in PAS-Umno’s plan to form the Selangor government,” he added.

Husam, who is Salor assemblyperson, had claimed that Hadi had admitted to working with Umno to unseat the PKR-led Selangor government.

Speculation was rife over PAS and Umno’s plan to seize Selangor when PKR was mired in the Selangor MB crisis last year.

The crisis eventually saw PKR deputy president Azmin Ali being installed as the new MB, instead of the party’s president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Hadi had opposed Wan Azizah being made the MB, although the DAP had solidly thrown its support behind her.

At the time, PAS and Umno could have formed a unity government in Selangor if both parties managed to gather 27 votes in the state legislative assembly (PAS 15, Umno 12).

They were reportedly short of three members, and had allegedly planned to have Azmin and two other PKR assemblypersons on board, to make up 30, a simple majority in the 56-seat state legislative assembly.

Both Azmin and PAS leaders have denied there was ever such a plan, and the latter have urged Husam to leave the party,
