A holistic and in-depth study will be conducted on the sale of flavoured liquids for electronic cigarettes or vape in the market, said Domestic Trade, Co-operatives, and Consumerism Minister Hamzah Zainudin.

He said the cabinet had ordered the study to be done to determine the procedures and criteria which could be identified if vape is to be allowed to be sold in the market.

He said the device for the electronic cigarette must meet international standards.

Hamzah added that the nicotine content must also be at the level permitted by the Health Ministry.

Speaking to reporters after launching the Online Networking Entrepreneurs SSM Sarawak in Kuching today, Hamzah said there must be regulations to determine who could produce these substances and who could sell and use them.

Hamzah said only after the study had been done would the government decide whether to allow its production and sale.
