Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah supports Budget 2016.

However, when asked whether or not he supported Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, the Umno lawmaker remained coy.

"No, that means we support the government programme for the (next) year (as) it was presented by the minister of finance, who is also the prime minister," Tengku Razaleigh said.

He stayed mum when pressed further on what he meant.

"Why these questions? You decide for yourself, okay?" Tengku Razaleigh told reporters in the Parliament lobby.

However, the elderly statesman, fondly known as Ku Li, did say that yesterday's budget vote was indicative that Najib still enjoyed strong support within the BN.

Budget 2016 passed the policy stage last night after a bloc vote resulted in 128 votes in favour and 74 votes against.

All BN lawmakers present, including former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, voted for the budget.

Tengku Razaleigh and Muhyiddin are speculated to be among seven Umno leaders being monitored for disciplinary action for speaking against the party.
