PAS state assemblyperson Husam Musa is more than ready to face PAS election director Mustafa Ali to prove that there were indeed talks of a merger between PAS and Umno in 2008.

“I am agreeable to any open debate with anyone, including Mustafa,” Husam said in a statement today.

The former PAS vice-president added that Mustafa was free to determine the date as well as the topic of the debate.

Husam stressed that the PAS-Umno meeting he claims was held in 2008 would remain as part of history, and it was up to Selangor voters to judge the matter.

“The meeting’s direction in the 2008 meeting was altered as the negotiators were likewise changed.

“But the fact that there was indeed a meeting cannot be changed," he said.

The suggestion of Mustafa ( photo ) that former PAS leader Khalid Samad should also be at the debate was only proof that the meeting did occur, Husam pointed out.

“His query as to whether I am a DAP tool, well, I will ask him now: ‘Are you being used as Umno’s tool, again?

“Did you get anything out of this? Are you willing to suffer the consequences for not being truthful to the party members all this while?” Husam asked.

Meanwhile, on the Kelantan PAS Youth wing, which has expressed its willingness to host the face-off , Husam said the wing was most welcome to do so.

“They can also arrange for me to debate with any state leader. “Be it on matters of the state or politics, or whether it is about issues which I have raised or otherwise. I am ready,” he said.

Apart from making these allegations, Husam has also claimed that the Kelantan state government was responsible for the illegal logging in forest reserves in the state.
