Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng wants to know PAS' stand on the remaining 783 PAS members who are still holding positions in village development and security committees (JKKK).

Lim said only 300 members in the state were sacked out of 1,083 as they had refused to carry out the policies of the state government.

“What about the remaining 783 members who are still in JKKKs […] do they want to serve the Pakatan Harapan state government?” Lim asked.

“PAS must make a decision on this, loyalty cannot be questionable and if the party has any principles, it should know what to do by now,” Lim said at the state assembly today.

Lim said PAS cannot be part of the state government if it no longer supports its policies.

"It was their decision to be in the opposition like Umno. They cannot have the cake and eat it too,” he said.

Lim said this after being questioned by Mohd Zain Ahman (BN-Penaga) on the status of the sole PAS assemblyperson in Penang, Salleh Man.

Zain had also asked why Lim allowed PAS members to hold positions in the state government and if he would appoint one as state executive councillor.

Lim replied: “If Umno supports me as chief minister and supports the Pakatan Harapan government, you are welcome to join the state administration”.

He reminded the assembly that it was PAS which first broke ties with DAP after its syura committee accepted a proposal by the delegates to cut ties with DAP at the PAS muktamar in June.

Pledged to support

The decision came following DAP’s move to snub PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang over his act in tabling amendments to the Kelantan constitution to allow hudud to be implemented there.

“DAP only cut ties with Hadi, but believes there are still good people in PAS,” he added.

When accused of practising double standard as DAP representatives were still at loggerheads with PAS in Selangor, Lim asked: “Are you willing to support the Pakatan Harapan government?”

To which Zain replied “No, because your policies are different from BN”.

Salleh, who is Permatang Pasir assemblyperson, has pledged suppor t to Lim and Penang's Pakatan Harapan adminstration.

He found himself in a bind following the sacking of the 300 members which resulted in PAS secretary Takiyuddin Hassan declaring yesterday that the party was now in the opposition in Penang.

Lim said there was no need to remove Salleh from the state government as he had pledged his loyalty to Pakatan Harapan and to his stewardship.
