Actor Khaeryll Benjamin Ibrahim, popularly known as Benjy, and a friend were acquitted and discharged on two count of drug possession by the Magistrate’s Court in Kuala Lumpur today.

Magistrate Nur A’minahtul Mardiah Md Nor made the decision after finding that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against Benjy, 38, and his friend, Julia Ernie Jamaludin, 26.

The two of them were charged with possession of 3.01g of methamphetamine and 1.71g of the same drug at The Reeds Boutique Hotel, No 9 Jalan Yap Ah Shak, Dang Wangi in Kuala Lumpur at 9.30pm last March 5.

However, Julia was ordered to enter her defence on a charge of possessing 0.37g of methamphetamine at the same place, time and date.

The court set Jan 4 and 5 next year for Julia to enter her defence.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor S Malini Anne, while Benjy and Julia were represented by lawyers Farhan Read and Nor Rabiatul Bahari, respectively.
