One simply does not label us like IS, PAS tells Amanah
Leaders of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah ) have been urged to be more 'gentlemanly' and not simply label any quarter as having elements of terror group Islamic State (IS).
“They shouldn’t label people like that. What if I say they are secular?” said PAS vice president Mohd Amar Abdullah at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Leaders of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah ) have been urged to be more "gentlemanly" and not simply label any quarter as having elements of terror group Islamic State (IS).
“They shouldn’t label people like that. What if I say they are secular?” said PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Abdullah at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said if PAS was indeed influenced by IS, why did former PAS leaders who have left the party to join Amanah accepted the bai’ah (allegiance pledge) then.
Amar was responding to Amanah vice-president Mujahid Yusof Rawa who claimed that members of Amanah were victims of extreme actions by PAS members and supporters.
The Parit Buntar MP had likened these characteristics to those of IS.
Speaking at a press conference in Parliament today, he said Amanah members were being abused verbally and on Facebook on a daily basis as a result of the seeds of extremism planted in society.
Amar, however, challenged Mujahid to provide proof on the matter first before making such allegations.
“If there are IS elements, where's the proof then?” he asked.
Accept the split
The Kelantan deputy menteri besar also stressed that his party was only retorting to statements made by the PAS splinter party.
“We are not the ones who started (the quarrels). We only explain matters and we are not aiming to attack them."
Asked on efforts to reconcile the two parties, Amar said there was nothing left that would ensure this became a reality.
“Efforts were made before Amanah was formed to ensure that the party did not split, but they didn’t accept this.
“So we have to only accept (the split), what else can we do,” he said.
