Jan 6 remention for case of mechanic 'abetting Kevin's murder'

The Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court today set Jan 6 for remention of the case involving a mechanic who was charged with abetting in the murder of deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais last September.

Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid set the date after deputy public prosecutor Ishak Mohd Yusoff informed the court that the prosecution had yet to obtain several reports relating to the case.

Ishak also requested the court to fix a new date while waiting for the necessary reports, while lawyer R Thirukumaran, who represented the accused, A Murugan, had no objection.

On Sept 28, the 44-year-old Murugan, together with a military doctor, Col K Kunaseegaran, 52, were charged with abetting six men in Kevin's murder at No 20, Desa Mentari, in Petaling Jya between 9.30am and 8pm on Sept 4.

The six men jointly charged with the murder of Kevin were G Gunasekaran, 47; R Dinishwaran, 23; A Thinesh Kumar, 22; M Vishwanath, 25; S Nimalan, 22; and S Ravi Chandaran, 44.

Kevin’s remains were found in a cemented drum at Persiaran Subang Mewah, Subang Jaya, near Petaling Jaya on Sept 16.

He was reported missing on Sept 4 and was last seen leaving his apartment at Menara Duta here to Putrajaya in a Proton Perdana with registration number WA6264Q.
