Johor appoints first woman police deputy chief

Aishah Mohammad made history in Johor today by becoming the first woman to have been appointed to the police deputy chief post.

The 59-year-old native of Pontian takes over from Ismail Yatim, 60, who is retiring on Saturday.

The handing-over of duties ceremony which was held at the Johor police headquarters in Johor Baru was witnessed by state acting police chief, Ramli Hassan.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Aishah, who was previously Bukit Aman’s deputy director of management (human resources police division), said she was determined to introduce measures in the state police force to improve the quality of service.

She has been in the force for 40 years.
