Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali boasted today that civil servants are clamouring to be transferred from Putrajaya to work with the Selangor government.

"Today, the Selangor government receives many applications from civil servants in Putrajaya who want to work in Selangor.

"But there's no need for them to move to Selangor. Let us move to Putrajaya," Azmin said at the PKR Youth and Women's congress in Petaling Jaya.

Among the factors Azmin cited for Selangor's popularity among civil servants, is the recognition Shah Alam gives them.

By comparison, he said, Putrajaya does not listen to the government employees, preferring to hire foreign advisers instead.

He said when given space to perform their duties well, civil servants can achieve great results which will benefit both the state and them.

He cited how Selangor was able to give its civil servants a one-and-a-half month's bonus, compared to the RM500 special allowance announced by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Azmin, however, could not cite any figures as to how many civil servants have sent in transfer applications.

"I don't have an exact amount but I get a lot of calls and SMSes telling me of their happiness, their pride in seeing Selangor give civil servants recognition," he said at a press conference later.
