Only one officer has been dismissed following probes on wrongdoing identified in the 2013 Auditor-General's Report, revealed a director in the Public Service Department, Mohtar Mohd Abd Rahman.

This is out of the 132 officers subjected to disciplinary action, said Mohtar.

He said this during a townhall meeting with the media in Putrajaya today, after the release of the 2014 audit report organised by chief secretary to the government, Ali Hamsa.

Of the 132 officers, he revealed that three had reductions in salary, 13 had their salary deferred, seven were fined, two were fined and subjected to surcharges, one was given a warning and had a salary deferment, two were given warnings and fined, nine were given warnings and subjected to surcharges, 65 were only given a warning and 29 officers were only subjected to surcharges.

Ali Hamsa added that so far, the total amount collected from surcharges for 2013 was RM86,000.

Meanwhile, he also provided information of action being taken against officers found to be involved in wrongdoing from Series 1 and 2 of the 2014 auditor-general's report.

At the ministry level, he said, 16 officers are currently facing disciplinary proceedings, while nine have been handed punishments by the disciplinary board.

One officer is being considered for either dismissal or demotion while six are having their punishments considered.

At the federal statutory level, 17 officers are in the midst of disciplinary proceedings, while 13 have been acquitted.
