Stop playing 'victim', PAS tells Muhyiddin

PAS has urged Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin to stop playing victim and instead make his move to take over the country's leadership.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's failure to turn up in Parliament to explain the money in his personal bank accounts opens the path for Muhyiddin to become the new Umno president and prime minister, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said.

"The ball is now in Muhyiddin's court - does he want to play victim or rise to become prime minister?" Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement released last night.

He urged Muhyiddin to state what his policies would be if he becomes prime minister at a time when the rakyat is having to deal with the rising cost of living.

He went on to suggest the aborting of fare increases by KTM, LRT, ERL and the highway toll rates, besides restoring the subsidy for rice.

Tuan Ibrahim ( photo ) said Muhyiddin should also outline his plans to solve the RM2.6 billion mystery and reveal the investigations into 1MDB.

Other measures should include him not holding the Finance Ministry portfolio as well, slashing the budget for the Prime Minister's Department, sacking the prime minister's highly paid contract advisers, downsizing the cabinet and ensuring that his wife does not interfere in the administration.

"Muhyiddin should realise that the failure to sack him from Umno shows that he still has support among Umno leaders and members," Tuan Ibrahim said.

Muhyiddin could still convey his message through social media despite all the efforts to silence him.

"With a large part of Umno members feeling the pinch from the rise in the cost of living, it is not impossible for Muhyiddin to receive a strong mandate and win the trust to lead Umno.

"The ball is in Muhyiddin's court," Tuan Ibrahim added.
