A jobless man who was abducted from his house on Monday by three men over unsettled debts has been found safe and unharmed.

A police team found the 35-year-old victim in the Jalan Pos Baru area in Klang, two days after the abduction.

In follow-up operations, the police detained eight people, including two siblings, and the wife of one of the suspects to facilitate investigations into the abduction.

Selangor CID chief Mohd Adnan Abdullah said on Nov 30 the police received a report from an 84-year-old man that his grandson was abducted by three men from the family home in Jalan Turi, Palm Grove, Klang.

"According to the complainant, the victim was taken to an unknown place as he (the grandfather) could only raise RM1,000 of the victim's total debts amounting to RM32,000.

"The police set up a team which located the victim in Jalan Pos Baru on Dec 2," he told a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters in Shah Alam today.

Mohd Adnan said in follow-up operations, the police detained a 23-year-old man in Jalan Pekan Baru, Klang yesterday and seized a black Toyota Vios, believed to have been used to abduct the victim.

Early this morning, two brothers, aged 24 and 26 were picked up from a house in Jalan Hamzah Alang 2, Taman Sentosa, also in Klang.

Several hours later, the police detained five more suspects, including a married couple, aged between 18 and 36, at a house in Taman Eng Ann, Klang and seized among others, 26 boxes of firecrackers, 45 SIM cards and four laptops.

Mohd Adnan said the case was investigated for fraud, illegal money-lending and under the Explosives Act.
