UMNO AGM Umno president Najib Abdul Razak wants Umno Overseas Clubs to play a more proactive role in persuading Malaysians abroad to exercise their right to vote.

Najib, who is also the prime minister, conveyed this message during a meeting with Umno Overseas Club representatives in conjunction with the party general assembly 2015 at Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur today.

The organisation's chairperson Ahmad Shabery Cheek told reporters this when asked to comment on the closed-door meeting.

About 100 members representing 76 Umno Overseas Clubs and studying in 18 countries had the opportunity to meet their party president face to face and express their views and grouses.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Shabery said the prime minister gave a briefing to the undergraduates on issues affecting the country, which had been at the back of their minds.

He said Najib spent almost 30 minutes at the meeting with the club representatives.
