UMNO AGM Umno president Najib Abdul Razak's olive branch to arch rival PAS is a good offer, said Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

However, the former Kelantan Umno chief said it is up to the grassroots to decide whether or not the two parties should work together.

"I think it is good but it depends on whether the grassroots will support it," he told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre today.

Najib yesterday extended an olive branch to PAS, saying he was happy that the party was kicked out of Pakatan

"With an open heart and free spirit, we offer the ties and bond of relationship towards the ideal in building Malaysia based on the Islamic doctrine," he said in his policy speech.

Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also said he prayed that PAS would work together with Umno for the good of the ummah.

Fellow vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein, however, said Umno has to take care of itself first.

"President Najib Abdul Razak has reminded us that before we move towards (working with PAS) we have to get our own house in order," he added.
