UMNO AGM The Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) stopped the live telecast of the Umno general assembly proceedings on its main screen outside the hall today, the second day of the assembly.

Umno members and supporters not entitled to enter the hall have been sitting on the carpet in front of the main screen to follow the proceedings of the assembly.

They were able to watch the live telecast yesterday on the policy speech delivered by Umno president and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

However, they could not follow the proceedings today.

Instead, the speeches of both Najib and Umno Youth wing chief Khairy Jamaluddin were repeatedly screened.

The technical crew even replayed the debate of the Umno delegates at last year’s AGM.

This was followed by several Umno officials this morning chasing off reporters from Malaysiakini , who had stationed themselves near the main screen, located on the second floor of PWTC.

At first, an official approached the Malaysiakini staff and said that all the news items carried by the online portal were wrong and therefore the Malaysiakini journalists should leave PWTC.

Later, another official said Malaysiakini reporters were blocking the walkway between the main stage and carpet for the supporters and members to sit.

Thus, the Malaysiakini journalists, together with those from a few other media organisations were forced to station themselves away, at a corner, but still able to see the main screen.
