PAS fumes at Umno delegate's urging to starve S'gor of funding
PAS vice-president Iskandar Samad has lashed out at an Umno delegate for urging the federal government to choke funding to Selangor, which is led by the federal opposition.
Iskandar, in a statement tonight, warned that any attempts to slash Selangor’s development funding will have a negative impact on the country.
He said this in reference to Selangor Umno delegate Nasaruddin M Zin, who made the proposal at the Umno general assembly today.
"Do not forget that more than 20 percent of the country's gross domestic product is generated by Selangor," said Iskandar, who is an exco member in the state government.
Iskandar also blasted the Selangor Umno delegate for failing to understand the federal constitution.
He said Article 109 of the federal constitution clearly outlined the payments that the federal government must make to state governments.
"Such a call by the Selangor Umno delegate shows the true colours of Umno's attitude towards democracy and cooperation," he said.
