As of this morning, a total of 309 flood victims are still seeking shelter at seven relief centres in Selangor.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Mohd Sani Harul said 172 people from 42 families were accommodated at the Surau Lembah Paya in Kampung Lembah Paya, Sepang.
He said the other relief centres were Surau Ladang Tuan Mee, Kuala Selangor (37), Taman Gemilang, Dengkil (23), Kampung Salak Tengah, Sepang (29), Balairaya Kampung Baru Salak Tinggi, Sepang (21), Dewan Majlis Perbandaran Klang Kampung Kuantan, Klang (17) and Dewan Orang Ramai Taman Meru, Klang (10).
The flood relief centre at Balai Raya Kampung Chinchang, Sepang was closed this morning, said Mohd Sani in a statement today.
In IPOH, 20 families comprising 87 flood victims from Kampung Layang-Layang Kiri, Parit in Perak Tengah are staying at the Surau Nurul Jannah in Parit Layang-Layang Kiri, as of noon.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Yahya Madis said they were evacuated yesterday when their houses were in 0.3 to 0.5 metres of water due to heavy rainfall.
Some 67 flood victims from Kampung Talang and Kampung Serapoh, Perak Tengah went home, two days ago when their houses were declared safe for occupation.
Meanwhile, Flood victims in Alor Gajah district in Malacca had increased to 559 from 130 families as at 3pm compared to 355 from 91 families at 9am today.
Alor Gajah district civil defence officer Mohammad Fairul Asikin Kadir said the three new flood relief centres opened in the district were Sekolah Kebangsaan Belimbing Dalam which accomodated 306 victims from 67 familes.
Kampung Beringin Community Hall accommodated 35 victims from eight families; and Kampung Bukit Balai Community Hall (eight victims from two families).
“Six relief centres are still opened while one relief centre at SMK Seri Pengkalan has been closed,” he said in a statement today.
He said the relief centres at Masjid Ar Rashidin Hall has 107 victims from 22 families; Kampung Gadek Community Hall (93 victims from 28 families) and Kampung Panchor Community Hall (10 victims from three families).
