SUPP, UPP, SPDP and Teras seat allocations to be resolved
The seat allocation among the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP), United People's Party (UPP), Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) and Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) will be resolved one way or another before the state election.
Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem said that if the parties could not come to a compromise, he as the state BN chairperson would have to make a firm decision to field a strong and united team in the election.
Adenan preferred not the have a three-cornered fight in a constituency as it would only confuse the people in making their choice, he said.
He said unlike in the 80s, when the BN only needed to face some "stupid independent" candidates, this time it would be the opposition DAP and PKR.
"They must be taken more seroiusly than some 'stupid independents'," Adenan told a press conference held after the state assembly adjourned, at his office in Kuching yesterday evening.
The split within the SUPP and SPDP has spawned the UPP and Teras that are "BN-friendly".
