Top 10 news and 2015 newsmaker - you decide

It is a tradition that come the end of December, Malaysiakini takes its readers through the best and the worst news of the year.

This year is relatively more subdued, compared with 2014 where we saw one jumbo jet disappearing into thin air, another shot down by a missile, while yet another crashed into the Java Sea.

But 2015 is no less explosive, with one former deputy prime minister serving his second jail sentence for sodomy, another deputy prime minister sacked, a mammoth RM2.6 billion found in the prime minister’s personal bank accounts and the grisly murder a deputy public prosecutor, among others.

Like last year, we are letting Malaysiakini subscribers decide the top 10 headline grabbers of 2015. There are 18 news categories listed in alphabetical order in this year’s vote.

Voting is done by showing your preference for each item - ‘0' being the lowest and ‘10' the highest. You can give the same score for more than one item.

Go ahead. Take one last look at 2015 before we move on to, perhaps an even more exciting 2016...

And, don't forget to also vote for the Newsmaker of the Year.

A quick recap - a newsmaker does not necessarily have to be the most popular individual. He or she is one whose actions consistently make news headlines, and in doing so, affects the course of public discourse and creates an impact on Malaysian politics, either for better or for worse.

This year, there are 10 candidates. Take your pick. Only paying subscribers can vote and everyone has one vote.

Voting ends at midnight, Dec 26, and the results will be announced on Dec 28.
