Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali has chided Umno after the party failed to send any representatives to the NGO's annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur today.

Instead, he praised PAS for sending its secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan and elections director Mustafa Ali to represent their party at the meeting.

Ibrahim quipped that perhaps Umno's absence was because the Malay nationalist party was too busy making preparations to celebrate Christmas.

“We have sent invitation letters to Umno and then sent an invitation by hand to Umno's secretary-general and information chief because we are concerned that when PAS show up, they (Umno) claim that they are not invited.

“Perhaps Umno is busy with Christmas celebrations,” he said during his opening speech at the sixth Perkasa annual general meeting this morning.

He said he has sent invitations to all political parties to attend the meeting except DAP but only representatives from the People's Progressive Party (myPPP), PAS, and Parti Ikatan Rakyat Malaysia (Ikatan) showed up.
