Man nabbed for making lewd gesture at Johor sultan
A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly making a lewd hand gesture when the Johor sultan's convoy passed his vehicle at kilometre 95 of the North-South Expressway, near Yong Peng, yesterday.
"The suspect is in police custody and will be investigated under Section 506 of and 509 of the Penal Code," Johor police chief Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd told Bernama .
He is remanded for four days to assist investigations.
Section 506 deals with criminal intimidation or imputing unchastity to a woman while Section 509 is deals with the offence of uttering words or making gestures to insult someone's modesty.
The suspect, who drove a Perodua Viva, is believed to have made the rude gesture when Johor's Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar passed by on the way home from Muar.
This comes after two men who were believed to have insulted the Sultanate of Johor and the royal family online, were detained in two separate locations in the country on Saturday.
In 2013, a man was sentenced to two months prison and RM8,000 fine for showing a lewd gesture to the Queen who passed by in her official car at the Bayan Lepas International Airport.
