PARLIAMENT Umno Senator Megat Zulkarnain Omardin has denied that the BN lawmakers were acting when objecting to certain provisions in the National Security Council Bill 2015 (NSC Bill) at the Upper House.

Megat has slammed DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang for accusing them of only play acting when debating the NSC Bill at the policy stage in the Dewan Negara earlier today.

He claimed he and his BN colleagues spoke from the heart without a pre-planned script in their debates since yesterday.

"Lim claimed that we had performed a parliamentary charade at the House, he said we have met Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and he consented for us to be critical against the bill. But, we will be forced to vote for the bill (in the end)," said the senator.

"We never met the prime minister and there was no discussion among us on the bill," he added vehemently denied the matter.

"There were no verbal and written instruction relating to the bill. It is back to our conscience as senators to debate in line with our level," argued Megat Zulkarnain.

He criticised Lim for being unethical in passing judgement.

"I do not understand what he wants. He says we play sandiwara (acting) when we speak our mind, and criticises us for being a rubber-stamp when we are quiet," he said.

Megat Zulkarnain however, said that he accepted the bill with open arms as it can address existing security issues.

At the time of publishing, the House is still debating the controversial NSC Bill at the policy stage.

The government could make changes to the bill in the committee stage, which the Senate House had done before.
